There is a saying that pictures do not tell lies, yet celebrated actor Majid Michel insists a photograph in which he seemed to be playing with the breasts of Nigerian actress Mercy Johnson is fake.
He is angry over the matter and has blamed the media for putting a spin on the 'alarming' photograph.
'I did not touch her breasts. It is the perspective {sic} from which the photo was taken that is creating the problem. From a distance you will think that my hand was on her chest but it was not. I was not holding her breasts,' Majid told NEWS-ONE in an exclusive interview on Wednesday.
The said photo raised funny thoughts in people's minds and became a subject of news in entertainment circles because the two stars had in the past been reported to have a thing for each other- an allegation that vexes Majid who says he does not have sex with any other person aside his wife.
When asked if it was true the said photographs created problems between him and his wife, Majid said that report was also false.
'My family knows the truth and the truth sets me free. So once they know the truth, I can sleep at night. I don't need to do any extra effort to explain to my wife; she understands my job. She is educated about it already, I don't need to start teaching her stuff about the entertainment industry,' he confidently explained.
It is difficult to understand how Majid got himself entangled in this controversy. About a year ago, there were reports from Nollywood that he and Mercy were love birds planning to marry. None of them bothered to respond to that report till it lingered on and became the chorus on almost every pair of lips.
Just when it was about to die down, Majid stirred yet another controversy by telling journalists that he enjoyed kissing acting diva Genevieve Nnanji.
When NEWS-ONE last Wednesday asked the light-skinned screen 'bad boy' Majid to confess what exactly was going on with him, Genevieve and Mercy, and which of them he had a 'thing' for, he said they were 'just working colleagues'.
'We are just working colleagues. That is it. We get together on set and make a film…Genevieve has a strong sense of script and knows the in and out of the script and improvises it magically. Mercy also reads her scripts thoroughly and she does it so well and that is what makes her strong as a professional actor. She has control over her character which makes her comfortable to work with,' he explained.
Majid seems uncomfortable with reports that insinuate he is dating someone else behind his wife.
When asked in a previous interview if he had ever cheated on the wife, he was quick to answer, 'No, I haven't. No, I am like a mini god. God won't let me and I just can't see myself doing something like that.' '…the guilt will be too much for me to carry and I know it is just wrong. Maybe it is the way I grew up and the churches that put that fear in me and make me believe I can't do it.
'I dated only one girl before I married my wife and since then there has been no one else. We have been together for 11 years now and she is the best thing that can happen to me and the most beautiful woman for me…you know I love to be in the midst of women to marvel at what God created out of them and this makes me understand how to deal with them.'
